Exalted Ruler’s Message - August 2008
Dear Members,
The Southwest District Awards Dinner
was held on June 29 at Our Trenton Lodge. All Lodges from the
Southwest District were represented. I was very proud Trenton won
the Oldest Participant, Color Guard, and Exalted Ruler awards. We
must thank our Marching Club for a job well done.
Thank you to Secretary Lou Eggert and
Grill Room Chairman Jim Lawrence Sr. for hosting the outing for the
Patriot Committee of Ewing Township after the 4th of July Parade.
They did a great job. Everyone was pleased and had a good time.
I just returned from the National
Elks Convention in Anahein, California. It was a very busy week...up
at 6am, have breakfast, meet the other Exalted Ruilers at 7:30am,
and be in our seats by 7:55am sharp. It was a very busy and
educational week, an experience I will never forget. I met Exalted
Rulers from around our country...and some Lodges were older than
Trenton. The Convention was a great success.
I had the honor to see our new Grand
Exalted Ruler, the Honorable Paul Helsel, be installed for the Elks
Year 2008-2009. Also, our new District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler,
Ronald Mangone from Mt. Holly, was installed.
Grand Exalted Ruler Paul Helsel's
main goal is to reverse the decline in Elkdom's membership. He asks
that we meet his goal by having each of our members propose a new
member. LET'S DO IT.
There were 12 resolution on the
floor...nine passed, three were voted down. I will advise you what
they were at Our Lodge meeting.
Fraternally Yours,
Joan Laird
